"The Totoro Forest Project is an international charity effort to save Sayama Forest, also known as Totoro Forest. This endangered sanctuary on the outskirts of Tokyo is where director Hayao Miyazaki got the inspiration for the much loved character "Totoro".

Over 200 top international artists from animation, illustration, and comics are donating artwork especially created for this cause. "

There's something about your piece for this project that makes me tear up-it really elicits a strong emotion from me. I think the sense of scale and charm and mystery really portrays my love of the woods even though I'm on another coast and the trees here are wind blown and thin. I love the patch of light and the way my eye is drawn into an open space that feels optimistic and full of promise.
I've never seen California, but I want to now.

WOW!....beautiful piece Erik, and such a great cause. As Eric said there is so much emotion in this painting. You can really see the influence in this painting from so many great masters.....and I think it would be worthy to hang next to any of them.
