Wanted to share some rapid studies from my flat files. Experiments on blue gray and green gray toned paper. In addition the clouds above the water contain several types of opaque whites (Zinc & Chinese White - Titanium, different manufactures, materials, etc.

Venetian study - 3x4 1/4 inches - Gouache & Watercolor w/ dip pen & brush

Clouds over Water - 5x6 inches - Gouache & Watercolor w/ dip pen & brush

I really like the swift movement of the clouds in the first one.
There is a really nice choice of color in the second one.

Wow- that cloud actually looks like a big wave which ties it in so well conceptually w/ the sea below.

Hey Erik,

I've just purchased your DVD and am already on my third watch. It is indeed amazing. Browsing your blog, I found that back in December 2008 you said you were planning more in the series (such as DVDs on site sketching, time of day studies etc). Are you still thinking of making those? They would be great, and I'd certainly purchase them without a second thought!
