An invented Italian architectural (theatrical) sketch of ruins with a limited palette of gouache and watercolor. Fabriano 'Artistico' rough paper 5" x 9 1/2". There is some pen work that had bleed through the lighter gouache, almost separating into a bluish stain. I taped the painting session for a tutorial down the road.

The balance and design is striking and your tonal dynamics are so inviting to the eye. I love the romanticized concept.

As a half Italian, I can say: molto bello! You are a great improvisation-talent.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement! I just posted a sneak peak at my process for the painting on Vimeo. It is shot in HD so you can see the details. I'm hoping to make more videos/tutorials about painting and sketching available online.

A very nice design with a very nice music. Who's the composer?

Hi Vinicius,

Thanks for the feedback! The music is by George Frideric Handel. (1727)
