Oil study, linen on panel - 9x12 inches. Great cloud day several weeks ago near the Golden Gate bridge. This was painted on location with a small pochade box set-up.

I love the clouds. I find em very nicely done. I think it's like water a fascinating thing to paint, it's allot easier then water but yet there are so many ways to do it, i love it. reminds me of barbison school works. i love the expression of it. great piece Erick :)

Thanks everyone one for the feedback. It is interesting Jared that you mentioned the shift between warms and cool tones in the clouds. It was really pronounced that day and made everything more complex and nuanced. I've been looking at some Russian artists from the 19th century like Vasiliev,Levitan and Shishkin. What masters of tonal control, creating drama with skytones - setting the mood of their landscapes.
