Fall 2011 Workshop Coming Up!
I'm excited to announce a new painting workshop September 17-18, 2011. I will be teaching a Gouache and Watercolor class on the West Coast of California, at the Mendocino Art Center. Please sign up if you are interested. The location is superb for outdoor sketching and continuing the paintings in the large studio at the center. I will be painting multiple demos and assisting students with their thumbnails and sketch paintings.

For complete information click here: Exploring Gouache & Watercolor

The watercolor pictures here are from a recent East Coast trip. I had a chance to explore the coast of Maine and work on location. These are stills from HD video that was shot. I'm experimenting with possible tutorials this way.

Doh! I will be in Bhutan! Maybe you could teach an oil landscape workshop another weekend - hint hint.

Erik, this is a great interplay of light and shadow. Nice composition and focal point (splashing water on the rocks) This has a very contemporary feel to it, compliments well your other traditional pieces. I'm delighted again at the freshness and energy in your work. A true artist paints beyond what the eye can see, brings us into a higher plane, a vision of the ideal. You always treat us to this. Thanks Kinman! Yes, the tide was moving fast, so towards the end of the painting session I had to scamper up the rocks as the waves got higher. Painting on the literal edge of the East Coast.

the quality of this painting is outstanding. I love the colours and contrast in the rocks. Fast painting from nature kept everything so very crisp and true! Love it!
