Drawing on a post-it note with yellow background (3"x 5"). Brush Markers, grey pastel pencil and permanent Pitt artist pens for details. This approach can be useful in working out ideas for projects. I have made hundreds of small sketches like this for various films over time. Warming up for concepts is something I recommend trying before diving into complex pieces. I like to do this when thinking of new paintings to be later carried out in oils or gouache.

Wow the luminosity you're getting from the yellow of the post-it note is amazing.

Thank you for the feedback about the humble Post-it, Jason and Abhishek.

Jason - congrats on your LA gouache book coming out, looks like a winner!

Abhishek - your work is fantastic, what dynamic energy and vast scale you are creating...just wanted to pass that on.

Thanks Erik, means a lot. Took your workshop at Concept Design Academy a while back. You were a big help in getting the book done. Very cool work Abhishek.

You're right, it can be really useful to reconnect with your original energy before diving into work. It would be very interesting to see a showcase with "warm ups" and what they generate later. Great mood anyway - as always :)
