A study of parting clouds and mist above a bay - moonlight. Watercolor, dip pen with touches of gouache. Arches cold press paper, approximately 5x11 inches.
What brand of gouache do you recommend? What are your standard colors? I saw on a 2010 blog post that you were working on a PDF Lesson on Painting With Gouache. Do you have that posted somewhere on your Blog?
For gouache paints I recommend any of the top brands that are professional grade. You will want to avoid student grade gouaches, only that they will have more fillers rather than pigment. I like the M.Graham watercolors and gouaches. To start just get watercolors and a tube of white gouache. You can mix a little of the white gouache with your watercolors and make semi opaque, tinted version of the various colors. For larger works that need to be solid, opaque and darker, the gouache tubes are the way to go. Winsor and Newton paints are fine as well Holbein. I also like Rowney for some of their gray gouaches. Look for the lightfastness rating. Avoid fading colors like the plague.
On my website (www.watersketch.com) in the workshop section I have a pdf list of supplies and suggested colors. I avoid cads and toxic colors if possible, but it is personal choice and it worth experimenting with various colors to get to know what works for you.
I did not finish my pdf lesson as I got swamped with work projects. I'm hoping to experiment with making a small book of my artwork and sketches, maybe through Blurb down the road, but once it is finished I will announce it rather than before!
My DVD is available via Amazon, Blick Art and other sources.

You've definitely captured the moonlight. I love esp. the reflection of the cloud-like, blue masses in the tree line. Nice touch!
Your color work is marvelously rich. Do you happen to do videos of your work? I would love to see the techniques you use.
